If you're interested in where I went to and where I go to school...

I'm a graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School in Ladue (St. Louis), MO, class of 1998. Before that I went to Ladue Junior High School and Mark Twain Elementary School (in Brentwood, MO).

Now I attend Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, which is about 30 miles north of Chicago, class of '02.

When I tell people I go to Lake Forest College, a lot of people initially assume it is Wake Forest, which is it very much not. When I tell them, "No, not Wake Forest, Lake Forest," they often get confused and then think I'm dumb or something because I go to a school they haven't heard about before. So, I'll tell you all about it to end those assumptions. (I'm a tour guide, can't you tell?)

LFC is a small liberal arts college that has about 1200 students. About 95% of the students live on campus, and a good percent of the faculty live either on or near campus as well. LFC prides itself on being small and many of the admissions officers, professors, and administrators know the names of many of the students. I know I was totally surprised when I went there as a freshman and people already knew who I was and knew my face.

The professors teach all their classes and know all their students' names. Plus, it's rare to have a class with over 20 students. The most popular majors are English, education, and the sciences. Our science department is in the top two percent for schools of this size.

I have a double major in music and English. The English major at LFC is nice because you can focus on either literature or writing and within each track you can decide what kind of literature or writing you want to focus on. I'm on the writing track and I'm focusing on creative writing, mostly poetry. I also have a religion minor, which I love because our religion department is so diverse. I've been to a Hare Krishna Temple and a Zen Buddhism center. I've learned meditation, which I do three or four times a week. I'm also in charge of the Jewish Student Organization (Hillel) and sophomore year my roommate was a Catholic who was in charge of one of the Christian groups on campus. So, in my years there I've grown a lot religiously, which I think is important for everyone to do at some time.

I'm involved in a lot of campus organizations. I already mentioned my involvement with the Jewish group and the campus tours. Other groups I'm involved in include:
Amnesty International -- I was the president junior year
Neapolitan Society -- a music appreciation group which a few music majors, including myself, started my freshman year
Interfaith Center, which has about 12 groups within it -- I'm the treasurer, and I participate in the Jewish group and meditation
Chamber Orchestra and ensembles -- I play clarinet
Anthology -- A writing club I helped to start my senior year
I also always end up getting talked in to do a million other little things that I won't list here.

So, that's my school experience so far. I know it's not that exciting for some of you, but I wanted to add more pages!
